Before you look for your own room
The SLU Madrid housing pages say students are not required to live in university housing, and they describe recommended options along with private apartments. They also ask study abroad students to confirm their housing option with their study abroad advisor, so speak to your advisor first.
When you rent a room in a private flat, your agreement is with the owner, not with the university. The university states that its student standards still apply off campus.
What is close to the campus
Within about 1.5 km of Avenida del Valle we list 125 rooms, from €540 to €770 a month. Within 3 km the count rises to 443, including rooms on Calle Galileo, Calle Alberto Aguilera and Calle de Fernández de los Ríos.
The radius also reaches central streets such as Calle Preciados, so rooms at the far edge are a metro ride away rather than a walk. These distances are straight lines, so check the real journey on a map.
What these rooms include
You rent a furnished bedroom and share the kitchen and living areas. Near the campus, all of these rooms list wifi, about nine in ten list an elevator and a similar share list a cleaning service.
These flats tend to be large, and many hold around nine people. The listing states how many, so check it if you would prefer a smaller household.
A residence near the campus

What to check before you book
Start with the date. When we checked in November 2026, only 29 of the 443 rooms showed a free date by the end of January, and 89 by the end of February, so spring students should look early. Far more open up in June and July.
